Voter Registration
In order to vote, a resident must have identification, and register in the County Clerk's office in the courthouse. Registration must be completed before 5:00 P.M., on the third Wednesday before the election. There are 2 voting wards in Versailles, and polling locations are announced before each election in the local newspapers and on the radio.
Local Government
Versailles has a Mayor/Council form of government. The City Council establishes policy for all city services, adopts the budget, and levies taxes. The City Clerk, City Treasurer, City Attorney, Superintendent Of Public Works, Wastewater Commissioner, and City Board members are appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board Of Aldermen.

The fee for residential building permits is $25. Commercial permits are $100. The Board Of Adjustment hears appeals on planning and zoning questions. Planning and Zoning questions can be answered at 573-378-4634.
